Jardiance® is a prescription medication containing empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Jardiance works by preventing the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, thereby increasing glucose excretion in urine and lowering blood sugar levels. It also provides cardiovascular benefits and has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
